Skills

All skills have ratings to them. Ratings determine the base number for Event Rolls with skills. Skills like many of aspects of the game, are purchased using Character Points and each rating point higher gets progressively more expense in terms of Character Points to purchase.

Weapon Skills

In order to use a weapon in combat, a character must have the appropriate weapon skill.  Like most skills in the game, weapon skills have a rating which translates into a dice roll for Event Rolls.  Weapon skills’ ratings are affected by a character’s Coordination rating.

General Skills

These are non-combat skills that every character can utilize regardless of their Focus.  Like most skills in the game, general skills have a rating which translates into a dice roll for Event Rolls.  Each general skill has a base Attribute it is associated with which it can receive a bonus or penalty from depending on the rating of the Attribute.  Additionally, general skills’ ratings are affected by a character’s Intuition rating.

Espionage Skills

These skills are usually only used by characters with a Secondary or Primary Focus on Skill.  They are similar to General and Weapon Skills in that they have ratings which translate into Event Rolls

Magic Skills

These skills are usually only used by characters with a Secondary or Primary Focus on Magic.  They are similar to General and Weapon Skills in that they have ratings which translate into Event Rolls

Armor Skills

Unlike most skills, Armor Skills DO NOT have ratings.  A character either has the skill or he/she doesn’t.  Having the skill allows the character to wear certain kinds of armor and serves no other purpose besides that.

Magic Item Skills

Unlike most skills, Magic Item Skills DO NOT have ratings.  They have Rankings instead.  The higher the Ranking a character has for a particular Magic Item Skill, the more magic items he/she will have access to.  A higher Ranking also makes Magic Items the character uses more powerful.  However, Magic Item Skills often have pre-requisites to them.  For instance, in order to get Magic Sword I, a character must have the Sword Skill (which is a Weapon Skill) already purchased.
